This is who we are
We created the Community Based Business Incubator Center™ (CBBIC™) to provide business support and assistance to an often-overlooked participant in economic development - the entrepreneur. Our goal is to serve as a catalyst for local economic development by creating a community platform for entrepreneurs, linking them to suppliers, real estate ventures, business plan developers and, ultimately, financial and grant assistance. Unlike all other business incubators, we will operate using the internet whenever possible, to provide services and connections to services, but more on this later.
Most visible economic development efforts in Upstate New York are linked to technology, most often high-technology as evidenced in the Albany area by the College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering and the Rensselaer Incubator Program.. Other efforts at economic stimulation involve the creation of “shovel-ready” sites for the construction of shopping malls or warehouse distribution centers. A new addition to these construction industry-focused efforts are “call centers”, for reservations, bill collections or other services. Neither of these types of economic development recognize the potential contribution from entrepreneurs, except those inside institutions.
Unfortunately, many of these economic development efforts do not provide a variety of jobs, nor opportunity for growth within the business. Entrepreneurs, as the creators of new, exciting, small business, can do much more to revitalize a community than most efforts. With the availability of the internet, we can reach anyone with computer access. Rather than selling you our web site skills, we will connect you with a local business person, perhaps a recent college graduate, who is looking to get in on the ground floor of a new enterprise. Our role is to uncover existing services and help develop new services to provide a cafeteria-style array for the entrepreneur.
Our services are available to all entrepreneurs living north of Westchester County. Through the internet, we will come to you; you do not need to meet us or rent office space from us. Unlike many incubators, we are not exclusive. We are a multipurpose Incubator Center Concept. We hope to serve farmers in search of simple and inexpensive ways to convert animal waste into energy and others looking for innovative ways to address our energy issues. We will work with students, business people, entrepreneurs and creative people where ever you are in Upstate NY. Don't lose that idea put it to use so we can grow our economy.
Right now we are a work in progress, but already we are working with a few entrepreneurs on some projects. One is a patent to replace a vehicle’s muffler system (Sonic Control Atenuator), another is a duplicate of a human jaw bone for dental implants and other medical uses. We are also working with local artists to market their works.
As our virtual locations grow, and more entrepreneurs contact us and begin to develop their businesses you will see our web site change. We hope that YOU will be our next new company in Upstate New York.
